This is a case study of a high school that used the KESA framework coupled with a multi-tiered system of supports to improve school-wide reading, math, and social emotional growth data as well as to sustain high graduation rates and improve the post-secondary success of graduating students. Through full staff participation in a collaborative team mindset and the leadership of a diverse building leadership team, this high school set on a course three years ago for developing two school-wide reading strategies used with all students, focused collaborative teaching of algebraic content and standard math practices in math core classes, intervention times that still allowed for students to take electives aligned with their IPS, and embedding of college and career competencies across all school settings to increase the overall achievement of all high school students in the building. This building also established whole child-centered practices to connect adults with every child in the building to build sustainable relationships that impacted the well-being of each student as well. Data and practices will be shared to demonstrate growth that has been achieved.
